Defective Airbags Can Cause Severe Injuries
Airbags have been attributed to saving thousands of lives since being introduced to motor vehicles in the 1970s and mandated in every vehicle starting in 1998. The effectiveness of airbags caused vehicle manufacturers to implement curtain airbags, center airbags, knee airbags, and rear passenger seat airbags. However, like pharmaceutical drugs, the devices that are meant to protect you from harm oftentimes do the opposite.
Airbag malfunctions can be caused by:
- Design defect
- Faulty wiring
- Loss of power prior to the collision
- Manufacturing flaw
- Sensor failure
