Azle Authorities Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run
Authorities are searching for two hit-and-run drivers who left the scene of a pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of an Azle teenager.
Details of the Azle Pedestrian Accident
According to NBCDFW, 16-year-old Savanah Moss was killed on May 20 in an alleged hit-and-run along Texas Highway 199.
The police say that she was hit by at least one car and possibly a second one – neither driver stopped. Less than an hour before her body was found, Savanah’s parents had reported to the police that she ran away.
An investigation is underway to find the person or persons responsible for taking Moss’s life only a mile away from her home.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):
- There were 3,377 traffic fatalities recorded along Texas roadways in 2013, averaging to roughly one death every 2 hours and 36 minutes.
- Pedestrian fatalities accounted for 485 of the reported deaths.
- An additional 232,041 people were injured in auto accidents in 2013 with 89,270 people suffering serious injuries.
- TxDOT estimates a reportable crash occurred every 71 seconds in 2013.
