Texas Man Killed in Oregon Car Crash

One man is dead and another has been hospitalized following a car accident in Oregon.

Overview of the Accident

Thursday afternoon, on Highway 211 near Colton, Oregon, a single-car crash lead to the death of 39-year-old Antony Scallon, of Garland, Texas.

Another passenger of the vehicle, identified as Jacob Dondero, 33, of Caldwell, Idaho, was treated at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital for injuries.

Oregon State Police released the identities of the men on Monday.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:

• There were 29,989 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2014 in which 32,675 deaths occurred.
• This resulted in 10.2 deaths per 100,000 people and 1.08 deaths per 100 million vehicle miles traveled.
•  The fatality rate per 100,000 people ranged from 3.5 in the District of Columbia to 25.7 in Wyoming.
• The death rate per 100 million vehicle miles traveled ranged from 0.57 in Massachusetts to 1.65 in South Carolina.
