Thomas J. Henry Investigating GM Recall
SAN ANTONIO, TX (February 28, 2014) Thomas J. Henry is currently investigating a worldwide GM recall involving 1.3 million vehicles in the U.S. The recalled vehicles have been linked to at least 31 crashes and 13 deaths, according to a press release issued by GM on February 25, 2014.
On February 10, 2014, GM announced a recall on Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 vehicles due to a faulty ignition switch. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, weight on the key ring, certain road conditions, and/or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine and disabling airbags.
On February 25, 2014, GM expanded the recall to include 4 additional models (Saturn Ion, Chevrolet HHR, Pontiac Solstice, and Saturn Sky) with the same ignition switch, bringing the total recall count to more than 1.37 million vehicles in the U.S.
According to a GM press release, 31 crashes, involving 13 front-seat fatalities, have been linked to the recalled vehicles.
The recall includes:
- 2005-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt
- 2007 Pontiac G5
- 2003-2007 Saturn Ion
- 2006-2007 Chevrolet HHR
- 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice
- 2006-2007 Saturn Sky
